School re-opening January 2021

There are still some details, especially about testing procedures, that need to be passed on to schools but we can confirm plans for the first few days of term in January 2021:

  1. Nursery to Year 6 will ALL resume as planned on Tuesday 5th January.

  2. Senior pupils will start the term on-line (Google Classroom) from Tuesday 5th January.

  3. However, the secondary department will be open for secondary aged pupils who are children of key workers or vulnerable. If your child falls into that category and are going to be in school next week, please respond to the previous e-mail and let us know as soon as possible.

  4. We also require all senior parents to fill in the forms and let us know whether they give consent for their children to be tested in school.

  5. From Tuesday 5th, Year 11 will have on-line teaching like in the previous lockdown. This means that their normal teacher will be teaching/available to answer any questions during the lesson slots. Pupils will be required to ‘attend’ all their GCSE subject lesson slots. They can use the rest of their time for revision. Our aim, which we will confirm next week, is to get Year 11 pupils into school to be tested at the end of the week and then for Mocks to start as planned from Monday 11th January.

  6. From Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th January, Year 7 to Year 10 will have work scheduled for them to do in their normal lesson slots for all their academic lessons (for Year 10 this will be all of their GCSE subjects and for Year 7 to year 9 this will be Maths, English, all Science lessons, Geography, History, French as well as Art and VFS). This should be work that can be done independently and then, where applicable, posted on Google Classroom by the deadline given.

  7. We need to check the testing arrangements and will need to confirm details next week but we are hoping that we may be able to get all pupils from Year 7 to Year 10 tested on Monday 11th January and then get pupils back in school from Tuesday 12th January. This is a provisional plan and we will need to confirm it when we have more details of how the testing arrangements need to work.

This is another new phase for us all. We ask for your prayers, your patience and your practical support – especially stressing the importance of checking for e-mails and reading carefully the information given so you know what is happening. Please do get back to us with any queries.
